I don’t normally hawk other people’s wares, but if you have any interest in giving First-Person View quadcopter racing a try, go get a copy of FPV Freerider. For less than the cost of your favorite Value Meal, you can be practicing to become the Lewis Hamilton of the FPV world.

Your favorite XBOX controller can substitute for a proper R/C transmitter. Although it doesn’t have great graphics, they are better than what you receive when flying in the real world. The best part is the opportunity to try out the latest R/C craze without investing next week’s paycheck into replacement propellers. I’m not a fast flyer, but being able to practice maneuvers completely risk free is invaluable. Although it doesn’t translate perfectly, the physics are pretty close and the controller can be tweaked to match your flying style.
It doesn’t support multiplayer (yet), so players are posting their race laps to YouTube and there is a leader board somewhere on Facebook, although I haven’t looked that one up. It’s hard to beat free, so give it a shot!
